Our Donation Process
All donated equipment entering our facility is delivered to our “Drive Teams” to remove donor data. This group ensures hard drives and solid state drives are wiped clean following best practices. Once complete, equipment is sent to various teams to determine rehabilitation options.
Rehabilitation
We diagnose equipment to determine if it meets our minimum performance standards. Systems meeting our standards are run through a set of diagnostic tests to determine if repairs are necessary. Good working systems are added to our inventory and made available to our charities. Equipment that is under performing, non-functioning or non-repairable are sent to our disposal team for recycling.
Recycling and Disposal
Responsible recycling is an important to our organization. Desktop or server equipment is completely disassembled and separated for recycling. The components – steel or aluminum cases, motherboards, processors, memory and drives are separated and collected. We send these parts to responsible specialty recycling vendors. Recycling proceeds fund our rehabilitation repair program.
